Meet Mel Boldt and Associates

by | Jun 29, 2022 | History

Mel Boldt and Associates may sound like a brand new company on the product development scene, but its roots go back 70 years. Mel Boldt and Associates was a powerhouse in industrial design from the 1950s through the 1970s led by the charisma of its founder. Mel Boldt nurtured relationships with top companies and built a staff of highly talented designers. His firm was one of the largest of the time, designing a vast amount of the household appliances and consumer electronics used in homes across America and worldwide. While Mel Boldt and Associates may not have been a household name, the companies it designed for certainly were: Zenith, Amana, Presto, Speed Queen, Bally, Moen, Schick, Bausch + Lomb and more.

Today, members of the Mel Boldt family and some of the iconic company’s former designers have joined forces to revamp the famous MBA style for a new era. The full service product development company manages Industrial Design, Software Development, Electronic Engineering teams and world class manufacturers in the United States, Canada, China, Taiwan and India to bring your product from napkin sketch to production.

To learn how it all started back in 1952, check out this video we created from interviews with several former Mel Boldt and Associates designers who were behind the iconic products we all grew up with.
